Generali GC&C names Pignoli Global Head of Parametric Products & Solutions

Generali Global Corporate & Commercial has appointed alternative risk transfer and capital solutions executive Michele Pignoli as its new Global Head of Parametric Products & Solutions.

The company said that his appointment “underscores GC&C’s commitment to delivering superior parametric solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and partners.”

Pignoli has worked in the insurance and reinsurance industry since 2014, when he joined Munich Re in 2014 as a reinsurance accountant for financial risks.

He became a manager of analytics within the Munich Re Capital Partners team in 2016, becoming the Senior Financial Controller for the reinsurer’s Digital Partners and Capital Partners units in 2019.

Pignoli left Munich Re in 2020 and joined Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), where he became a Senior Global Practice Leader for Alternative Risk Transfer & Capital Solutions.

In January 2022, he joined Generali managing projects within its Capital Solutions division.

Then, in 2023, Pignoli became Generali’s Head of Group Insurance Capital Solutions.

Now, he has become the Global Head of Parametric Products & Solutions at the insurer’s Generali Global Corporate & Commercial division.

The company sees it as a “pivotal role” and it’s a further formalisation of the Generali parametric risk transfer appetite, which has been building over time.

Recall that Generali established a partnership with parametric specialist Descartes Underwriting in 2020, as the pair looked to develop new parametric insurance solutions to actively respond to an evolving global risk landscape.
